Aluminum allergy is rare, but due its increasing use in daily used products sensitive people can expect allergic rashes.

You’re exposed to different types of metals every day like, nickel, aluminum, stainless steel, mercury in vaccines and cobalt. It might be surprising. But, products you use like jewelry, seafood, vaccination, water and cosmetics include these substances.

When a hypersensitive person comes in contact with the products with aluminum, he/she will develop uncommon symptoms known as allergic reaction.

Aluminum extracted from earth’s crust is not harmful, however when other compounds or ionic form this metal can irritate immune system. US National Library of Medicine, states that repeated exposure to this metal can stimulate allergic reaction.

Mild or acute side effects of aluminum can be regarded as safe, but the allergic reaction once triggers will increase with its frequent use.

Irritated immune system produces antibodies to detect foreign substances. When hypersensitive people comes in contact with aluminum in any form, IgE antibodies signals immune system to release histamine, chemical reaction between foreign substances and histamine results in allergic symptoms.

Aluminum Allergy Symptoms

Person may experience mild to severe uncommon signs with the allergy. Some of them are itchy red rashes, headache, muscle pain, joint pain, poor memory, insomnia, depression, asthma and irritable bowel syndrome.

Internal use (vaccination) or external application will lead to such allergic symptoms.

However, it’s not an easy task for a common person to determine the allergen. It’s recommended to consult allergist for diagnosis to confirm the allergic substance.

Skin prick test will determine the allergen. Allergist will check for the specified IgE antibodies to confirm the allergy. If it’s positive, along with medical prescription you must avoid products that include aluminum.

Before vaccination, discuss with your doctor if you’re hypersensitive to aluminum. In one case 18 months old child experienced dermatitis after vaccination, after testing it was found that she wasn’t exposed to any aluminum products other than vaccination.

Even daily used products are adding this metal, so check ingredients before buying a product. Part from this; make sure you aren’t allergic to other metallic products.
