Amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium are two active ingredients in augmentin. People who’re sensitive to this penicillin antibiotic medication can trigger augmentin allergy symptoms.

Ingredients in augmentin antibiotic produce IgE antibodies that stimulate allergic reaction. Immune system stimulates adverse reaction after few hours of dosage. In case of non-IgE antibodies, allergic symptoms can be delayed.

  • Nausea or vomiting, diarrhea and abnormal bloating can occur in patients with augmentin allergy.
  • Swelling in airways and throat interfere inhaling and exhaling ability of the person.
  • Coughing, wheezing, lightheadedness, dizziness, fainting and high pitched breathing can be seen.
  • Confusion or anxiety in some cases may lead to anaphylaxis condition.

Person who is allergic to this antibiotic medication must avoid the medicine. Let your pharmacist know that you’re hypersensitive to augmentin.
